Which Australian Seasons are Perfect for Australian Travel?…

It is difficult to answer this question and establish a perfect time, because Australia’s features are so diverse that there is always something to explore no matter what the Australian Seasons.

However, in my humble opinion, the Australian Seasons which I would choose, would be Winter to Spring, May to October. The fishing is best at this time of year, the Sun is more plentiful but with less heat,  the northern states are cooler with less rain and there is lots of wasnow on the southern Alps. It is way more comfortable to travel the outback in the cooler weather, and there is no flooding from the summer monsoons in the North.

However if you want to be here for the southern surf beaches, the Melbourne Cup, Cricket, tennis and most of the harvest festivals; Summer would be the best of the Australian Seasons to visit.

You will find some information in the article below about the Australian Seasons, which will help you decide on your travel plans through the Great Southern Land . I hope you find the article relevant, and that you will share it with others. Do let us know if we have been helpful or not.

Australian Seasons:

Australia lies in the Oceania region of the southern hemisphere, surrounded by water on all sides.

The Island Continent is not only a diverse country in culture, with our Aboriginal, European and Asian communities coming together in a uniquely Australian melting pot;  but it also features diverse attractions for visitors to enjoy. From the unique fauna including Koalas, Kangaroos, Wombats and Cassowaries to our Indigenous cultural landmarks such as Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kakadu, as well as an reefamazing choice of experiences from our Great Outback to the Great Barrier Reef, from the Northern Tropics with it’s ancient Rain Forests to the Southern Alps with their snow fields and Mountain Wilderness.

Australia’s winter is distinctly mild with snow appearing only at altitude with many parts of the country perfect, even in the middle winter.

Seasons run opposite of those in North America and Europe, when the Northern Hemisphere is experiencing the cold winters, Australia is basking in the much warmer weather in the Southern Hemisphere’s summer, and obviously vice versa.

Australian Summer spans December through February, which features longer daylight hours and warm to hot conditions depending on the part of the country. March to May is Australia’s Autumn, leading into the cooler Winter period of June to August. Mild Spring weather lasts from September to November and really is the ideal time to be in Australia.

The varying hot and wet conditions prevail from October to March, with November through March being the hottest months. While Australian Seasonsfrom April to September, the cooler dry weather kicks in. Unlike in the northern hemisphere, the farther south you travel in Australia, the colder it becomes. The continent of Antarctica, and the south pole, lying just south of Tasmania, across the Great Southern Ocean..

From mid-April to late August is also a good time to travel to Australia, as airfares are lowest and it is the best time to visit the Red Centre, the Top End, and the Great Barrier Reef.

Across Australia even in winter, temperatures rarely dip below freezing, and snow falls only in parts of Tasmania, the ski fields of Victoria and in the Snowy Mountains of southern New South Wales.

In much of the country such as Queensland, the Top End, the Red Centre and most of Western Australia, April through September is the most pleasant time to travel. During these months, daytime temperatures are 66° to 88°F (19°-31°C) and it rarely rains.

Australian SeasonsOn the other hand, the best time to visit Australia’s southern states such as New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia from Perth to the south, and Tasmania is during the warm summer months of January and February.

Ultimately, the best months to explore and experience Australia’s vast and diverse attractions are September and October, the Spring of Australian Seasons. As during these Spring months, it’s still warm enough to hit the southern beaches, but also cool enough to tour Uluru. As well, the humidity and rains have not yet come to Cairns or the Top End and the wild flowers are in full bloom in Western Australia.
