Fishing Redcliffe

Fishing Redcliffe .. land based fishing tips.

Fishing RedcliffeFishing Redcliffe and surrounding areas – The beaches along the Margate, Redcliffe and Scarborough foreshores are great for land based fishing . They are not surf beaches and because they are in a calm area they have good structure for fish to feed. If you have a look at very low tide you will see the structure, there is plenty of it within easy casting range from the beach and you will catch fish here when it is covered by the tide.

You won’t need heavy sinkers to reach the fish and there is very little current so you won’t be dragged far. Early morning and late afternoon and evenings are best times to throw a line in and have some fun. You wont break any bag records here, but you can catch enough for a feed. Most likely species on offer are Flathead, Whiting and Bream and for bait you might use live worms, preserved worms, mullet or pilchard pieces, squid, whitebait, and prawns.

Fishing Redcliffe - Woody Point JettyThe Woody Point Jetty is also worth a fish, very accessible and comfortable, but for that reason it can get a bit crowded so get there early.

The rock walls at the entrance to the Newport canals are good fishing grounds as well, there is easy access and a nice picnic area with electric BBQ’s and covered tables.
